In Memory

Joe Rosenfelt

Joe Rosenfelt

Joe Rosenfelt, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2011 after a surprising battle with acute myeloid leukemia, at the University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by immediate family. He was born April 29, 1946, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Cecil and Erna Rosenfelt. He was the middle of three siblings. He graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Missouri in 1964. He moved to Kansas City and was accepted into the Plumber's Local Union 8 apprenticeship program completing the five year program. On August 26, 1967, he married Marcia Kay Hurelbrink. After he served in the US Army for two years and participated in the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged. In 1973, Joe founded Century Plumbing Company, a residential union plumbing shop with Local 8, serving the Kansas City Metropolitan Area for 38 years in residential and commercial plumbing. Joe was a brilliant man with a strong work ethic. He was filled with a spirit that found the good in everyone and everything. When he spoke, his words were filled with wisdom. He was respected by many and helped more individuals than we will ever know. While Joe was known to work, he also took the time to relax at the lake, hunt, fish and travel in the motor home. He was looking forward to retirement and living his remaining days at his dream home and property with his beloved wife. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Kay Hurelbrink, his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kim Rosenfelt and grandchildren, Dakota and Taylor of Belton, Missouri; his daughter and son-in-law, Jeff and Traci Tyler and grandchildren, Cora, Lincoln, Claire and Elise of Lee's Summit, Missouri; sister, Judy Rossignol of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and sister, Shirley Best of Houston, Missouri. He is predeceased by his father, Cecil Carl Rosenfelt, 1972 and his mother, Erna Marie Schwader, 2007. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 26th from 5:00-8:00pm at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27th at 11:00am at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow. Thank you to the medical teams at KU Med Center for giving it their all and providing the family with a few days of hope.
