Last Rites For Soldier From Houston

A military contingent from Ft. Leonard Wood gave a final salute Sunday to a fallen soldier who had been listed as  missing in action in Vietnam since April.

Last rites were held for Sgt. James Richardson, 21, at the First Christian Church with military services and burial in  Pinelawn  under the direction of Evans-Elliott.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Richardson of Houston, were notified last week that the US Army had declared him dead. He served as a crew chief on a Medi-Vac helicopter. Sgt. Richardson had received two medals-the air medal and Bronze Star with A V Device for Valor. 

Last rites were held for Sgt. James Richardson, 21, at the First Christian Church with military services and burial in  Pinelawn  under the direction of Evans-Elliott.

Born in Jefferson City, he moved with his family to Houston in 1956 and attended local schools. He was drafted in October 1966, and on December 22, 1966, was united in marriage to Miss Connie Hamilton at the Christian Church here.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one brother, Robert of Marshall, NC and a sister, Mrs. Louise Wilson of Deville, LA

James was a nice guy. I visited the Viet Nam Wall in Wash. D.C. some years ago and looked up his name and
found him listed on the Wall. Thank you, James, for your service and sacrifice.
